So, you’re all booked on your trip to Marazion, and you’re looking for the best day trips in Cornwall. The Isles of Scilly are located just 12-miles off the coast of mainland Cornwall. There are a few options to consider when planning a day trip from Marazion to the Isles of Scilly. There’s plenty to do on a day trip to the Isles of Scilly, from visiting the Isles of Scilly Museum, exploring the local beaches, or getting back into nature at Tresco Gardens.
The first thing to think about is how you will get to the Isles of Scilly. The most popular route is to board the Scillonian ferry from Penzance. The journey takes 2 hours, 45 minutes each way, so the trip is doable in a day. You’ll arrive on the island of St Mary’s, the largest of the islands. Make sure you check the website as there are often day trip deals offered.
Another popular way to travel to the Isles of Scilly from Marazion is to fly on the Skybus. This is a more expensive option, but the journey time is just 20 minutes. The flights leave from Lands’ End, which is 28 miles from the Isles of Scilly. There’s also a shuttle bus which will take you from Penzance railway station to Lands’ End Airport.
I recommend combining your journey for the best of both worlds, flying to the Isles of Scilly in the morning and boarding the Scillonian in the evening. Your trip would be even better if you stayed overnight on the Isles of Scilly to see more of the Islands.
