The Hakone Kowakien Hotel opened in Hakone, a popular hot springs resort encircled by Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji, just 90 minutes by car or rail from the heart of Tokyo, according to Fujita Kanko Inc., a top Japanese hospitality company with its headquarters in Tokyo. The 150-room, freshly constructed modern resort is intended to provide both relaxation and entertainment for all ages, particularly families with young children.
Its amenities include seven private hot spring baths, seven large hot spring baths (indoor and outdoor), one of which is located on the top floor and offers panoramic views, a café, a kids’ area, and an outdoor pool (only open during the summer). A multipurpose room is used as a coworking area. The different sorts of guest rooms are six. In addition, there are additional facilities/amenities to enjoy at the resort, which is situated on Fujita Kanko’s sizable Hakone Kowakien resort area.
Guests staying at the resort get unlimited free access to Mori no Yu, a second hot spring facility on the property, as well as Yunessun, a well-known hot spring theme park (guests are required to wear bathing suits). Yunessun, renowned for its many entertainingly themed hot spring pools, including the wine bath and coffee bath, has recently undergone extensive restorations and improvements and reopened on 7th July. It offers new features and zones, such as an outdoor camping area, an amusement area with augmented reality gaming, stores, and a food court, all emphasising different enjoyable activities and experiences.
In Hakone, Fujita Kanko was a pioneer in the early development of resorts; the company started developing hot springs more than 70 years ago. It has been centred on the Hakone reconstruction project, which has been centred on renovating the Hakone Kowakien Hotel, over the previous few years. The prior hotel had its debut in 1959 and shut its doors in 2018. Currently, Mikawaya Ryokan, Miyama Furin, and Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu are the other hotels in Hakone. As restaurants, Kihinkan and Geihinkan are included as tangible cultural property on the national register.
