According to a press statement, Windstar Cruises has started offering high-speed satellite internet throughout its entire fleet.
With the help of the brand-new broadband Starlink internet, Windstar Cruises will be able to offer passengers fast connections both at sea and in ports.
“I am thrilled to be working with Anuvu and Starlink to offer our guests the latest in satellite technology,” said Gregg Wagner, technology director, Windstar Cruises.
“When the ships are inside the service area, faster speeds will alleviate much of the frustration felt at peak use times.”
Recently, Windstar Cruises introduced the internet aboard the Star Pride, and by mid-2023, the company hopes to have Starlink installed on the majority of its global fleet. This spring, the corporation will put Starlink into operation on the Star Legend, and then on the Wind Surf, Wind Star, and Star Breeze. As soon as Starlink is made available in French Polynesia, Windstar will activate it on the Wind Spirit.
“Starlink is yet to be available worldwide, but Windstar Cruises is excited to be among the first in the cruise industry to offer this cutting-edge technology. The addition of high-speed internet service with our current geostationary satellite service will enable guests to stay connected to family and friends,” added Wagner.
Anuvu, a geostationary satellite service, is being used by the whole Windstar Cruises fleet to deliver internet access. By incorporating Starlink technology, the current connection will be accelerated and strengthened.
