The seventh hotel from Virgin Hotels has opened in New York’s NoMad neighborhood on Broadway.
In the spring, there will be an official grand opening celebration for the 460-room Virgin Hotels New York City. The hotel’s 39-story structure houses dining establishments and entertainment venues on the third and fourth floors, an outdoor pool club for hotel guests, and meeting and event rooms measuring more than 19,000 square feet.
Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson said: “We’ve wanted to open a hotel in New York City since Virgin Atlantic first flew here in 1984.
“I’m so proud of the amazing team behind Virgin Hotels New York, they have created something beyond my wildest dreams.”
Candice A. Cancino, general manager at the hotel, added: “With stunning views, delicious food and beverage, convivial spaces to work or play, and exciting happenings from day-to-night, the hotel is poised to become a cultural epicentre for both local New Yorkers and guests from around the globe.”
James Bermingham, chief executive of Virgin Hotels, commented: “New York City is the perfect home for Virgin Hotels. Our brand is bold, proud, and playful, and so are New Yorkers.
“As our first hotel in New York City, we wanted to create a concept that was unique yet thoughtful, fusing together the local landscape with the spirit of Virgin.
“We’re looking forward to becoming one of the most sought-after hotels around.”
There are floor to ceiling windows in every chamber, which all have views of the city.
Some of them provide views of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, and the Empire State Building.
The hotel’s 35th and 36th floors are home to Sir Richard’s Flat, the highest suite.
The mobile app Lucy from Virgin Hotels is available to all visitors and allows them to manage the lights and thermostats, purchase services, stream their own material or view television programming, and explore content.
Prices for opening start at $595.
Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Edinburgh all have Virgin Hotels. Glasgow will have a second Scottish facility in 2023, while Miami and Denver will follow in 2025.
