On Sunday, the first Virgin Atlantic aircraft from Edinburgh to Barbados landed on the island.
On Scotland’s only direct journey to the Caribbean, the airline is flying a three-class Airbus A330.
On Sundays and Wednesdays, the twice-weekly service will run. Return economy prices start at £419 for a round trip.
Onward connections to the Caribbean are also possible from Barbados, with Virgin Atlantic and interline partner Caribbean Airlines offering flights to Grenada, St Vincent and Tobago.
The new Edinburgh service marks the first time in Virgin Atlantic’s 37-year history that the airline has flown international flights from the Scottish city.
Juha Jarvinen, the company’s chief commercial officer, stated: “Commencing international flights from Edinburgh marks an exciting new chapter for Virgin Atlantic and we couldn’t be happier to be flying from a new home in Scotland.
“I know our teams have been itching to show Edinburgh the Virgin Atlantic spirit and flair we’re famous for.”
