In 2025, Viking will add a new ship to its fleet that was created especially for the Seine River.
The new vessel will sail the eight-day Paris and the Heart of Normandy itinerary with the other four Viking Longships—the Viking Fjorgyn, the Viking Kari, the Viking Radgrid, and the Viking Skaga—that were already presented in 2022.
“France continues to be among the most popular destinations for our guests, and we are pleased to expand our fleet on the Seine River to meet that demand,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking.
“With our exclusive docking location at Port de Grenelle, even more guests will soon be able to explore the ‘City of Light’ in the Viking way.”
The Viking Longships have an Aquavit Terrace, a variety of stateroom options, and can accommodate 168 passengers in 84 staterooms. In order to lessen their reliance on fuel while in port, the ships also have a hybrid propulsion system with batteries and are set up for shore power. Solar panels are a standard feature on all ships, which increases their energy efficiency.
The Giverny itinerary for Paris and the Heart of Normandy includes excursions to the farmhouse where Claude Monet lived and worked. Additionally, it offers visitors the option to stroll along the World War II beaches in Normandy and the American Military Cemetery in Rouen in Joan of Arc’s footsteps.
