The 930-guest Viking Neptune has been “floated out,” marking a key construction milestone and the first time the ship has touched the water, according to Viking.
The ship will make her debut in November and will spend its first season cruising Mediterranean routes.
It will then set sail on the company’s 2023-2024 Viking World Cruise, a 138-day tour through 28 countries and 57 ports, with overnight stops in 11 cities, from Fort Lauderdale to London.
Viking’s chairman, Torstein Hagen, said: “It is always a special day when a new ship meets water for the first time, and we look forward to welcoming guests onboard Viking Neptune this autumn.
“Together with Fincantieri, we have built the world’s most elegant vessels, which truly allow our guests to explore the world in comfort.”
On Thursday, 13th January, the annual float-out ceremony was held at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard.
Viking Neptune will be relocated to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior build-out after a two-day process to get it floating.
