The Fincantieri Shipyard in Ancona has delivered Viking’s newest ocean liner, the Viking Neptune.
Through the use of a tiny hydrogen fuel system, Neptune will be the first cruise ship to evaluate the usage of hydrogen power for onboard operations.
“We are especially proud to welcome this newest sister ship to our ocean fleet, as it also marks a significant advancement in testing hydrogen as a future fuel for our vessels,” said Torstein Hagen, chair of Viking.
Prior to departing on the company’s 2022–2023 Viking World Cruise, a voyage from Fort Lauderdale to London that spans 138 days, 28 countries, and 57 stops with overnight stays in 11 cities, Neptune will spend its first season operating routes in the Mediterranean.
