As its new ship sets out on its first trip, Viking has increased its capacity for sailings on the Great Lakes this summer by a factor of two. The Viking Polaris made her first port of call in Toronto. The vessel joins its sister, the Viking Octantis, which started sailing on the Great Lakes in 2022 and recently started its 2023 season.
All five lakes will be covered by the two excursion ships’ 378 passengers on six different routes.
The 16-day Canada & the Atlantic Coastline itinerary and the 15-day Great Lakes Collection are two brand-new itineraries for this season.
While the latter leaves from Toronto and ends in Fort Lauderdale with a lead-in fee of £7,995, the former will sail from Toronto to Duluth and costs £10,095.
Ashore excursions in each port of call, Wi-Fi, lunches, and drinks with lunch and supper are all included in the itineraries, which include return flights from London and a few other regional airports.
Torstein Hagen, the head of Viking, said: “We are proud to welcome both of our expedition ships to the Great Lakes.
“With historic canals that are engineering marvels, cities with thriving arts and culture, and unmatched wilderness, this is a phenomenal region of North America that may be familiar to many, but few have had the opportunity to explore.
“After our first full season of Great Lakes voyages in 2022, we are grateful for the warm welcome we received from each destination and look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the region this season and in the years to come.”
