From 24th July, Viking Cruises will allow UK passengers to embark on new cruises departing from Iceland.
Viking Sky, together with sister ship Viking Jupiter, returned to service from its summer homeport of Reykjavik and accepted US passengers.
Until early September, both will sail a new eight-day route called Iceland’s Natural Beauty.
With stops in Akureyri, Seydisfjordur, and Heimaey, a total of 19 circumnavigations of the country on the UK’s green list are planned.
Viking reopened in May and has been traveling throughout the United Kingdom with British passengers since 22nd May. Almost all of the passengers on these cruises gave these cruises top marks.
On 15th June, the service began sailing from Bermuda with American passengers.
Viking will return to the Mediterranean in July with three ocean ships based in Valletta, Malta, and will resume river operations in Europe with a few itineraries in Portugal, France, and along the Rhine.
Torstein Hagen, the company’s chairman, stated: “On behalf of the entire Viking family of guests and crew, we are delighted to be back in Iceland—and we thank the government for its support as we continue restarting operations.
“This stunning island of fire and ice inspired the original Vikings when they charted new territory, so it especially fitting as a key destination in our ‘Welcome Back’ collection. We look forward to introducing even more guests to this beautiful Nordic country over the summer.”
