Vietnam Airlines Resumes Daily Flights from Heathrow for Winter Season

This winter, Vietnam Airlines will resume operating daily flights from Heathrow. Starting on 29th October, the flag carrier will operate seven non-stop departures per week. The number will first rise from three to five as of 1st July, before beginning to provide the daily service once more for the first time since before the outbreak.

Phan The Thang, general manager of Vietnam Airlines for the UK and Ireland, stated that the airline’s goal is to “as soon as possible” return to pre-pandemic passenger counts.

He stated, “Vietnam Airlines made it a key priority to re-establish the connection to the important UK market last year, following the pandemic-enforced suspension of the route.

“We are proud to have carried approximately 29,000 passengers from Heathrow to Vietnam in just nine months last year, contributing significantly to the tourism recovery in Vietnam.

“With the resumption of daily services from London confirmed once again for this winter, we are determined to return to pre-pandemic passenger numbers – which peaked at approximately 74,000 from London Heathrow in 2019 – as soon as possible.”

The airline will run four flights a week to Hanoi and three to Ho Chi Minh City using Boeing B787-9 Dreamliners.

In December 2011, the airline began operating the first flights between the UK and Vietnam directly in 2015, operations moved from Gatwick to Heathrow.

The daily service had started in 2016, but the epidemic stopped it. In June 2022, flights recommenced.
