In 2023 and 2024, six ships will be featured in Costa Cruises’ new Costa Journeys programme, which will go to various exotic locations. The previously revealed trip includes “extended itineraries,” according to Costa, as part of longer cruises to the Holy Land, Egypt, the Azores Archipelago, the Canary Islands, Morocco, Tunisia, and other places.
Numerous trips to Egypt and the Holy Land are part of the new programme. The Costa Pacifica will embark on a series of 14-night voyages between October and November 2023 from Savona, Barcelona, and Marseille to locations in Italy, Spain, France, Malta, Egypt, Israel, and Greece.
The itineraries, which include shore excursions to the Egyptian Museum, the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Holy Sites in Jerusalem, the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, the Wailing Wall, and more, were created to allow travellers to “embark on a journey of mystery and mysticism” with changing ports of call, according to Costa.
Three ships are scheduled to travel to the Canary Islands as part of Costa’s new Journeys between late 2023 and late 2024.
Throughout the majority of the winter of 2023–2024, the Costa Firenze will conduct 14–night excursions to the Spanish archipelago, sailing from Italy, Spain, and France. The itinerary of the ship includes stops to a number of islands in the Canaries, including Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Lanzarote, in addition to Portugal’s Madeira Island.
The organisation claims that the schedule is perfect for anyone who enjoy the outdoors, with tours emphasising the topography and ecosystem of the islands. For instance, visitors will be able to explore volcanic cones and solidified lava at Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park or descend into the earth’s interior in Tenerife’s Cueva del Viento, which is referred to be the largest lava tunnel in Europe.
In 2024, the Costa Fascinosa will offer a special voyage that travels via the Mediterranean, Madeira Island, and the Azores Archipelago. The 14-night cruise, which is also a part of Costa Journeys, departs from ports in Italy, Spain, and France and stops at Funchal, Ponta Delgada, and Praia da Vitória, three Portuguese island destinations in the Atlantic.
Passengers will get the opportunity to experience Madeira’s distinctive customs, such as descending mountains in the local “cestinhos” baskets made of wicker.
The Costa Fortuna’s schedule for 2023 and 2024 also features a variety of itineraries to Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to Costa, visitors will have the chance to see Istanbul from four different angles: on foot, by tram, by metro, and by boat, allowing them to fully experience the city’s culture and way of life. They can learn about Turkish customs in Izmir and then wander through the East-meets-West town of Alaçati, the business claimed.
The itineraries include excursions to ports in Greece, Italy, Spain, France, and Tunisia, combining locations in both regions of Europe’s inner sea.
Three ships will provide Costa Journeys to Morocco, bridging Southern Europe and Africa. The Costa Favolosa sets sail from Italy and France in late 2024 for a ten-night journey that includes stops in Tangier and Casablanca as well as three ports in the UK and Spain.
Two additional excursions will be offered in Casablanca, according to Costa, letting visitors immerse themselves in Moroccan customs with trips to the Hassan I Mosque and lunches at Rick’s Café, a restaurant modelled after the 1942 Casablanca motion picture.
Passengers will have the chance to tour Tangier’s marketplaces and sample the local food there, according to Costa.
