United MileagePlus Selling Miles Up to 50% Discount

United MileagePlus is giving a promotion on purchased miles through 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday, 26th November 2021. You’ll want to go into your account and see what offers you’re eligible for because various accounts may be eligible for different offers. The best incentive I’ve seen on any account is a discount of up to 50% on purchased miles, which works like this:

Purchase 5,000-24,000 miles and enjoy a 25% discount.
Purchase 25,000-39,000 miles and receive a 35% discount.
Purchase 40,000-175,000 miles and receive a 50% discount.

United MileagePlus normally charges 3.5 cents per purchased mile, plus a federal excise tax of 7.5 percent. This is before any discounts or perks are applied. If you qualify for the 50% discount and use the entire campaign, you’ll get a total of 175,000 miles for $3,292.19, which works out to 1.88 cents per MileagePlus mile.

Members of United MileagePlus are limited to purchasing 175,000 MileagePlus miles per calendar year per account. Note that this limit applies after any incentives have been applied, so even if United offers a bonus on purchased points, you can only acquire a total of 175,000 miles.
