United Airlines has doubled the number of daily flights between Newark and Edinburgh. Together with Washington Dulles and Chicago O’Hare, United has three routes to Edinburgh. This information is current.
This summer, United will operate two daily flights from its primary transatlantic hub in Newark to the Scottish capital beginning on 25th May from the US (and on 26th May from the reverse direction). It will run till 28th September at this frequency.
Edinburgh is accustomed to being busier than usual during the busiest months of the summer when demand and prices naturally soar. In the summer of 2005, it began operating twice daily; this continued until 2017. The 757 was utilized almost totally. When United’s Newark-Glasgow route was still in operation, it frequently offered a triple-daily summer service from its headquarters in New Jersey to Scotland.
Summer flights to Edinburgh are now only offered once daily on the 757 as of 2017. The launch of Washington Dulles, which began in May 2018, served as its catalyst. However United’s Newark-Glasgow was still running at the time, assuring twice-daily service between Newark and Scotland. Glasgow came to an end in October 2019; it was supposed to return in the summer of 2020, but the epidemic prevented that.
Edinburgh now houses United, and Newark will once more operate on a double daily schedule. The number of one-way seats will be close to 43,000 from May 25 to September 28.
This summer, United will provide up to four daily flights to Edinburgh, breaking its previous high of three. There are daily flights from both Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles, as well as the twice-day service from Newark.
