For some arrivals, the Tunisian government has waived the requirement for quarantine or a negative Covid-19 PCR test result.
The new entry criteria take effect on Tuesday, June 1st and apply to travelers who have been completely vaccinated or who have tested positive for Covid-19 at least six weeks prior to their departure date.
British travelers who have been vaccinated must present certified evidence from the NHS that they have had both vaccines.
Those who have tested positive must also provide a medical certificate from the appropriate health authorities.
All other passengers over the age of 12 must have a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before to travel to Tunisia and must self-isolate for seven days.
They are free from self-isolation if they are on a pre-arranged excursion. They must stay with their group, use pre-arranged transportation and lodging, and follow approved Covid guidelines.
Rapid tests will still be performed upon arrival, and those who test positive will be quarantined in special facilities.
The announcement of the new admission criteria coincided with Tunisia’s announcement of a vaccination campaign for tourism workers.
It comes after the government decided to make tourism a key business in the national vaccination drive.
Staff that works full-time in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, museums, and archaeological sites, as well as tourist guides and other employees who come into close contact with tourists, will be covered by the program.
