The IATA summer season began at the end of March, and it has been going strong for about a month. Airlines are taking advantage of the spike in travel demand that this time of year brings, but TUI is also looking forward. In fact, it has stated that the summer timetable for the UK would be the busiest ever in 2019.
The most important statistic from the most recent TUI news is that its UK branch will have more than 10 million tickets available on all of its flights in the summer of 2024. This indicates a bright prognosis for the upcoming year and a signal that travelers will keep returning to leisure travel in large numbers. Andrew Flintham, MD of TUI, said: “Our customers want more flexibility and to be able to choose a departure airport that is close to home, and that is exactly what the new TUI 2024 summer program has been designed to do. We want every one of our customers to be able to create a holiday as unique as they are – departure airport, destination and duration are all key components which come together to make the perfect TUI holiday.”
The 1.1 million additional seats that will raise the overall number of seats to 10 million will allow TUI UK to operate its busiest summer schedule in company history. These have been added to important leisure markets in the UK, with 250,000 additional seats each in Turkey and Spain. With an increase of 300,000, North Africa will also profit.
Although the UK has multiple cities with working airports, many people believe that London dominates the country’s transportation systems. TUI UK has been anxious to emphasize the significance of rural airports in addition to the British capital, even if the capital undoubtedly plays a significant role in the company’s network and operations. Regarding this, Flintham continues: “The 2024 program will see extra flights departing from across the UK, with additional TUI flights from Glasgow, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Bristol, and East Midlands. Each region of the UK will see a significant increase in flight seats, offering more holidays to those living in the region. All of this adds up to over 1 million extra TUI smiles!”
TUI is stationing more planes at airports located throughout the UK as part of this program. For instance, Glasgow Airport (GLA) in Scotland will gain 180,000 seats as a result of two new aircraft based there starting in the summer.
Actually, Glasgow is not the only TUI station that will have more aircraft based there during the summer. In fact, one extra based aircraft will be present at airports like Birmingham (BHX), Bournemouth (BOH), Bristol (BRS), East Midlands (EMA), Manchester (MAN), and Newcastle (NCL), opening up new routes. Next summer, even airports that won’t receive more based aircraft stand to gain, with Exeter (EXT) adding more flights to Crete and Rhodes as part of a 15,000-seat expansion. Similar to this, Cardiff Airport in Wales (CWL) will get 40,000 more seats and a new route to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. The summer’s growth has been so vast that the future is definitely promising!
