Tui will begin offering ‘day-ahead’ bag drop services at Gatwick’s North Terminal and Manchester airports on Monday, 18th April to help alleviate long lines and delays.
Passengers on Tui flights departing before midday will be allowed to check-in bags between 2 and 9 p.m. on the day before their trip.
It implies they will be able to go straight to departures on their departure day.
For flights to the United States, the service is not available.
The company noted in an online update to passengers regarding airport delays: “We are aware of security queue delays at some airports, predominately Birmingham and Manchester.
“We are working closely with our partners to monitor the situation and open check-in as early as possible.”
Customers should remember that standard check-in opens at least two and a half hours before departure time for short and mid-haul flights, and three and a half hours before departure time for long-haul flights, according to the update.
Tui travelers traveling from Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Gatwick, Manchester, and Newcastle can use a self-service bag drop in addition to the ‘day-before’ option.
Customers who just have carry-on luggage can check-in online and proceed directly to the departure gate.
