On flights to and from England and Northern Ireland, Tui Airways is no longer asking passengers to wear face masks.
Face masks will no longer be a legal requirement from Friday, 11th March in the two sections of the UK, the operator’s in-house airline said — two years to the day that Covid was confirmed as a pandemic.
The rule’s easing comes after Jet2 dropped the requirement on some flights and Iata CEO Willie Walsh called for the mask regulation to be repealed.
Tui Airways confirmed the change, saying: “However. in line with UK government and EU Charter guidance, we strongly recommend that you still wear a mask throughout your flight.
“Under current guidance, it is still mandatory for customers aged 12 and above travelling on Tui Airways to/from Wales and Scotland to wear a mask throughout their flight unless medically exempt.
“It’s important to note that you may still be required to wear a mask when leaving the aircraft and once inside the airport at your arrival destination.”
Passengers aged two and up who are flying to the United States must wear a mask the whole journey, according to the airline.
According to the airline, those aged six and up who are going to Italy must wear an FFP2 mask the whole journey.
