Transport Secretary Shapps Clarifies Under-18 Travel Rules

From 4th October, under-18s will not be required to undergo a pre-departure exam to fly, according to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

Following a misunderstanding concerning the status of minors traveling from the United Kingdom when rules change, Shapps addressed the requirements.

According to the Department of Transportation, “If you’re under 18 and from the UK or one of the other over 50 countries that we recognize vaccination status, you will not have to do pre-departure testing from 4 October and will also be able to do a lateral flow test rather than PCR when that change comes into effect by the end of October.”

The Department for Transport went on to say: “They will not need to self-isolate, as under 18s from the UK or one of those 50 countries are treated as a double vaccinated person would be.”
