The Pell, a bright new boutique hotel that is a part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, has officially opened, according to Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The Highgate-managed property is situated on the historic Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, close to Newport and a plethora of other fascinating sights and things to do. The Pell, which just unveiled the conclusion of a $9 million refurbishment with a modern bohemian style, is a real representation of the coastal community in which it is located.
The Pell, a renowned surfing destination in Newport, is situated at 425 East Main Road, less than two miles from Sachuest Beach, Third Beach, and Easton’s Beach. The historic Newport Mansions and Cliff Walk are both under three miles from the hotel, while Newport Vineyards is only a quarter of a mile away. Visitors can relax in the hotel library or eat at The Helmway, the hotel’s full-service restaurant, when they return from a day of sightseeing in Newport.
“We are thrilled to finally be introducing The Pell, which is the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Rhode Island, to the Newport market,” says Graham Jones, a co-founder of GRJ LLC and the company that owns The Pell. We invested a lot of time, energy, and love into this project and are confident that The Pell will have a significant impact on both Middletown and Newport.
Originally constructed in 1989, the bedrooms and public areas were completely renovated by award-winning architecture and design firms A4 Architecture and Stoa Design Collective. The hotel’s design, which draws inspiration from the neighborhood and is a real reflection of Middletown, includes natural elements and a tranquil, neutral color scheme to go with its fun, vivacious environment and warm personality. Along with modern, elegant furnishings, wicker and wooden accents bring the luxury coastal vibe within.
The Pell provides 127 roomy suites and guestrooms with luxury amenities, comfortable beds, and 550-thread-count quality linens for a rejuvenating stay. The bathrooms are complete, and each one has a marble vanity, tub, and walk-in shower. A separate living space is included in all deluxe rooms and suites, and two of them have kitchenettes. There is a 55-inch TV, a mini-fridge, and free high-speed internet in each room.
The Helmway, the hotel’s namesake restaurant, offers in-room dining options for guests in addition to serving breakfast and dinner at tables and a bar.
Will Wallbank, executive chef, says, “The menu represents my passion for local, sustainably sourced high-quality foods. The menu itself and cocktail list will change with the seasons, “We work with local farms and fisherman to deliver fresh options for guests and visitors of Aquidneck Island.”
The Pell offers 1,250 square feet of adaptable meeting and event space, making it the ideal place to organize a small business conference or an intimate wedding reception for up to 40 people. The building also offers a business center, a fitness room, and free parking.
