Sri Lanka tourists have been vaccinated to enjoy more freedoms

Tourists to Sri Lanka who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be granted more freedom than those who have not been fully vaccinated.

Visitors who have received both doses of a vaccine within two weeks of arrival will leave their “bio bubble” licenced hotel after 24 to 48 hours if they test negative on arrival in Sri Lanka, according to the latest updated advice from the country’s government.

For the first 14 days of their visit, those who have not yet received two vaccine doses must stay in licenced “Safe & Secure” Level 1 hotels. These visitors will be able to stay at several licenced Level 1 hotels and use all of their amenities, as well as visit approved tourist sites within their individual bio bubbles.

This is a shift in policy from January, when Sri Lanka made no allowances for tourists who had been vaccinated.

Regardless of vaccination status, all visitors to Sri Lanka will be required to take a PCR test 96 hours prior to boarding their flight and show evidence of a negative result.

The travel industry in the United Kingdom is waiting to see which destinations will be designated as orange, amber, or red under the current “traffic light” scheme. This announcement is scheduled in early May, less than two weeks before international travel from England resumes on 17th May 2021.

Sri Lanka may be one of the green countries for UK tourists, according to research released earlier this month.
