According to recent Heathrow data, two out of every five individuals are anxious to travel abroad again this year, with Spain being the most desired destination.
Nearly half of Britons are upbeat about the future of travel, with 37% now feeling confident enough to travel overseas thanks to Covid vaccinations.
A beach vacation (40 percent), a trip to the outdoors (36 percent), and an adventure vacation are the most popular trips individuals want to book initially (22 percent ).
People are more appreciative of travel as a result of the pandemic, with two out of five (40%) stating it is more essential to them now than it was before the pandemic.
More than a third (35%) said they had difficulty switching off from work in the previous year, and nearly two-thirds (63%) said being at home had a negative influence on their mental health.
Respondents agreed that being able to go overseas helps, with three quarters indicating that vacations allow them to disconnect from their daily worries and a comparable proportion seeing immediate benefits to their mental health while on vacation.
Reuniting with friends and family, according to a third, is the main cause behind wanting to travel again.
The announcement came as the London hub partnered with more than ten industry partners, including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, to offer thousands of pounds in free flights and experiences to travelers flying out of the airport.
The ‘Come Fly Again’ campaign aims to enable people in the UK to reconnect with relatives and friends all over the world.
It comes after the government eased travel rules for Britons, who no longer need to quarantine upon their return to the UK provided they are fully vaccinated and are traveling from specific countries.
The winners of the ‘Come Fly Again’ flights and experiences will have six months to redeem their prizes.
The contest will be open until 29th November. Summer, October half-term, and Christmas will be the times when winners will be chosen.
Ross Baker, Heathrow’s chief operations officer, said: “As we celebrate 75 years of connecting the public to the world of travel, we’re delighted to be welcoming more passengers back to Heathrow.
“Now, more than ever, it’s important that we help to reconnect friends, family and loved ones across the globe, so we’re happy to be able to work with our incredible airport partners to make the experience more special after what has been such a difficult year, for so many.”
