Spain has extended its Covid entry requirements for non-essential travel by another month, which means that unvaccinated adults can still enter the country.
After the Ministry of Interior of Spain issued an extension of the limitations that were set to be lifted on May 15, all international visitors will be subject to Spain’s Covid guidelines until 15th June.
The statement is as follows: “The border order to be issued by the Minister for Home Affairs extends all current restrictions on Spain’s external land, sea and air borders under the recommendations of the Council of the European Union due to the health crisis caused by Covid until 24.00 hours on June 15, 2022, and replaces the current one, which expires on Sunday, May 15.”
The extension implies that unvaccinated travelers aged 18 and above can still visit Spain only if they can demonstrate proof of recovery from Covid within six months of travel.
Unvaccinated children aged 12 to 17 can enter Spain if they present proof of a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of arrival, while children under the age of 12 are excluded from testing requirements.
Adults who have been vaccinated within the last 270 days, or who have had a booster shot, can enter.
While the expansion of Covid limitations keeps Spain as one of the few European countries with such tight laws, the government has modified its indoor face mask policy, which means people are no longer required to wear masks in bars, restaurants, stores, and theatres.
