In one of the world’s most sought-after locations, the highly anticipated Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama will make its grand debut on 19th Januar 2023. An enchanting address studded with all the finest luxuries, Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo presides with a distinctive exterior reminiscent of a bygone era and gracefully merges Panamanian culture with undeniable luxury. With the dramatic décor of the lobby, which quickly envelops visitors and honors the nation’s most spectacular engineering feat and architectural wonder, the building’s original French colonial architecture is precisely reflected in the interior design of the establishment – the Panama Canal – with nautical design components including sculptural works produced especially for it, startling visuals, exhibited old photos, and nautical instruments. Beyond the lobby, the structure’s French heritage is subtly incorporated into a number of design elements, such as the marble checkerboard floors, wrought iron balconies, and brass accents in the ballroom, and contrasted with modern Panamanian design components, such as local artwork, handmade encaustic tiles, and vibrant furnishings inspired by the varied flora and fauna found throughout the nation.
The Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo was constructed on the historic site of the once-famous Club Union, the most exclusive and affluent social club to have existed in Panama City throughout the 20th century and which played host to luminaries including Albert Einstein, Queen Elizabeth II, and Helen Keller. The spectacular new site, which is close to the Teatro Nacional, La Catedral del Oro, the Panama Canal, and the MUMO Museum, wonderfully captures the essence of the Sofitel Legend while honoring Panamanian and French heritage.
The 159 generously sized rooms of the Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo, including 35 spectacular suites with breathtaking views, are arranged around a central, outstanding patio and beachfront pool. These rooms blend classic allure with modern opulence. After a long day of visiting the city, guests can unwind and recover in the lovely apartments, which also function as generous retreats. Many of the rooms have balconies with beautiful sea views where guests may enjoy daily routines like morning coffee and cocktail hour at dusk.
The establishment has five eating and drinking establishments that thrill visitors with food that is inspired by the seasons and is likely to satisfy a variety of desires and situations. With the freshest seafood in the region and the boldest tastes, Caleta is a stylish Mediterranean brasserie run by recognized Executive Chef Lorenzo Di Gravio. Dishes include grilled octopus with rosemary potato cream and red chard. Visitors are welcomed at MAYDA Lobby Bar & Plaza with light meals, traditional drinks, and French elegance. Here, visitors can take a seat and linger over afternoon tea and delicious treats created by renowned Pastry Chef John Moreno.
Fresh juices, smoothies, nutritious snacks, and bowls are available at a pool bar beneath The Plaza. These drinks are the perfect accompaniment to a morning workout or an afternoon swim. Vera Café tempts with gourmet sandwiches, highland speciality coffee from Panama, freshly baked croissants, chocolate confections, and other delectable delicacies that are convenient to grab on the move. Finally, Ammi, which will soon begin service, has a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the ocean and the city’s skyline. It’s the ideal place to enjoy Latin music, custom cocktails, grilled delicacies, ceviche, or a pizzetta.
