The first luxury all-inclusive resort for Marriott International and the Luxury Collection has opened its doors in the Dominican Republic. Sanctuary Cap Cana joins the renowned group of experiential hotels by this venerable brand.
Following a four-month makeover in the wake of Hurricane Fiona, which struck just as the resort entered the All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy portfolio as its 30th property in September 2022, the storied adults-only hotel is now completely accessible to visitors.
Marriott International, in partnership with hotel developer Playa Hotels & Resorts, took the chance to further improve the guest experience with the opening of a brand-new restaurant, beach bar, nightclub, and hotel library as part of its commitment to elevating the all-inclusive concept with unmatched amenities and diverse culinary options. In addition to enjoying light bites and grilled specialties at the La Yola Snack Grill, which is shaped like a canoe, guests can now also dance the night away at the PM PUB nightclub, sip inventive cocktails and healthy smoothies at a new beach bar, and borrow a variety of books from the lobby library, including a collection about Dominican culture, to read on their sun lounger.
Sanctuary Cap Cana, which is only 15 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport and next to the Punta Espada Golf Club, the top golf course in the Caribbean, blends stunning architecture and design with first-rate service and opulent rooms. Oceanfront villas, private island suites with sumptuously furnished terraces and private pools overlooking the sea, guest rooms with a coastal Mediterranean-inspired design, and the grand Castle Island Suite, a 5,500 square foot two-level, two-bedroom suite on a private island with an expansive living room, dining room, and three indoor plunge pools with floor to ceiling windows, are among the 324 refined suites.
Five restaurants, including four a la carte establishments with menus featuring seafood, Asian, Italian specialties, and steak, a buffet restaurant available for breakfast and lunch every day, a coffee shop, a deli, and eight bars, make up Sanctuary Cap Cana’s curated culinary experiences. Right across from the resort’s main lobby, Sanctuary Town serves as an extension for guests to eat and explore, with uniquely themed establishments serving a variety of cuisines like burgers, sushi, and woodfired pizza, as well as live entertainment on certain days. This unique area, which is accessible to both tourists and locals, is crowned by a huge Spanish bar.
There are six swimming pools on the grounds, or, if you’d rather, cabanas and beach chairs. Sunbathers can enjoy the beach while sipping cocktails or local and imported beers from the Beach Bar and receiving the best possible individualized service.
The Haven Spa lives up to its name with a beautiful ambiance of pure enjoyment for those looking for a sanctuary for the senses. The Sanctuary Spa, a beautiful paradise, offers the ultimate spa experience with ayurvedic therapies, hydrotherapy, and cutting-edge therapies. It also offers beauty salon services and couples massage cabins with a romantic bathtub that can be set up with champagne and chocolate treats.
With its unmatched amenities, which include about 46,000 square feet of event space, 17 event rooms located in indoor and outdoor locations, and a 400-person capacity in its largest space, the resort is ready to serve as the backdrop for unmatched events overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Through Sanctuary Cap Cana, visitors can experience the natural beauty of the Dominican Republic. It’s a perfect location with a range of upscale activities that can be scheduled through The Luxury Collection Concierge service, including shopping, dinner reservations, and once-in-a-lifetime Dominican adventures.
