Saga Announces New River Itineraries for 2024

Saga has announced its river itineraries for 2024, including a new ship. Spirit of the Douro, which will join the fleet in March of next year, will travel along its namesake river on a total of 36 excursions before November of 2024. The Portugal itinerary, which starts at £1,461 per person, will highlight one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions.

Nigel Blanks, the chief executive of Saga Cruises, stated: “There are a lot of exciting new experiences for our river guests in 2024, including Spirit of the Douro arriving in the fleet to operate one of our most popular regions, the introduction of ‘taster cruises’ that are just five nights, new itineraries including to Lake Ijssel and Flanders Field and more of what our customers love most, such as André Rieu events.”

Early bookers can get a 25% discount on the 2024 cruises right now. According to the line, pre-registrations were up 37% from 2023 to 2024. Five-night “taster” cruises are a new addition to the collection for the upcoming year, and are hailed as “a great option for those who want to try river cruising before committing to a longer itinerary.” For instance, on 4th April, 2024, A Taste of Holland with Keukenhof departs from Amsterdam and travels to Hoorn, Lelystad, and Zaandam, where visitors can experience the Keukenhof Gardens.

The Ypres and Flanders Fields cruise, another recent addition, makes a stop in the city where some of the First World War’s fiercest fighting took place. Visitors can tour the Menin Gate Memorial and the Flanders Field Memorial Museum. Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Ghent, and Brussels are additional stops on the Spirit of the Rhine.

In addition, Saga announced that it would now be providing four André Rieu cruises rather than three “due to overwhelming demand,” each of which would include a ticket to one of the King of Waltz’s concerts.

Rhine in the Spring and the 11-night Hidden Treasures of the Ijsselmeer are two other new itineraries.
