In an effort to increase the number of private islands in its portfolio, Royal Caribbean is focusing on “year-round” locations.
Bert Hernandez, senior vice-president of international sales, told Travel Weekly on a trip to London that creating new Perfect Day private islands was “a key part” of the line’s business strategy and that Cyprus was a possibility.
The company now offers Perfect Day in CocoCay in the Bahamas, but it is also looking into chances in Mexico and Japan and restarting its project in Lelepa, Vanuatu.
The cruise company is also transforming Labadee, Haiti’s first private island, into a Perfect Day experience.
Hernandez said: “The destination has got to have a government that is willing to work with us and they have got to have capacity for long-term, year‑round deployment.”
Recently, Hernandez visited Cyprus to investigate the viability of establishing a Perfect Day facility in the eastern Mediterranean.
Due to the fact that US visitors frequently prioritize seeing Europe’s cultural landmarks, he claimed that a Perfect Day destination in Cyprus would be “more focused towards Europeans.”
