Friday, 16th June Qatar Airways started its seasonal service between Doha (DOH) and the Turkish city of Trabzon (TZX). Until 22nd August the airline will provide this service during the busiest part of the summer. This strengthens the carrier’s route network of over 160 destinations worldwide and adds a seventh Turkish destination.
The carrier’s Airbus A320-200 aircraft will fly this route. The QR-319’s scheduled flight time is 3 hours and 25 minutes, with an 08:25 DOH departure and an 11:50 TZX arrival. The return flight, the QR-320, departs TZX at 13:20 and lands at 16:35 for a total travel duration of 3 hours and 15 minutes.
The A320 aircraft of carrier can carry 132 to 144 passengers, depending on the configuration. The aircraft has 120 to 132 seats in economy class in a conventional three-three layout and 12 business class seats in a two-two configuration in both configurations. However, customers will continue to get the airline’s stellar services.
Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, said “Trabzon is an exciting and important new route for Qatar Airways, which solidifies our strong commitment to Türkiye and delivers on the high demand for connectivity between Doha and Trabzon.
“We look forward to bringing travellers to Trabzon from the Gulf region and beyond, through an unrivalled travel experience through our home, the outstanding Hamad International Airport”.
North-east of the nation, Trabzon is renowned for its illustrious past and vibrant present. The Black Sea coastline and the Sumela Monastery are only two examples of the many historical and natural beauties that can be found there.
With the addition of the new route, Qatar Airways will make it easier for its customers to conveniently discover Trabzon’s beauties. Additionally, the airline expands Trabzon residents’ options for flying, allowing them to access the airline’s extensive global route network and make quick connections at its Doha hub.
Travellers from Turkey would have easier access to places like Australia and New Zealand, where Turkish Airlines currently does not travel, by booking flights with Qatar Airways. Turkish Airlines, however, is shortly going to start flying to Melbourne.
Qatar Airways operates flights to four additional destinations in Turkey, in addition to the six already served. These four destinations, including Ankara, Adana, Antalya, and Bodrum, are exclusively operated using the airline’s Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
The route from Doha to Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, is operated once daily. Flights to Adana are available three times a week on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. For Antalya, Qatar Airways offers five weekly flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The route to Bodrum operates five times a week on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
On the other hand, the airline’s two most popular Turkish routes, Istanbul and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, are served using a mix of widebody aircraft. Qatar Airways operates 17 weekly flights to Istanbul, including two daily services and an additional service on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. The airline utilizes various widebody aircraft, such as Boeing 777s, Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, and occasionally Airbus A330s, on this highly popular route.
For Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, Qatar Airways offers 18 weekly flights, including two daily services and an extra service on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. While the A320 is mainly deployed on this route, the airline also utilizes larger widebody aircraft, such as the Boeing 787, when there is a need for increased capacity.
