As part of an expansion of its UK footprint, Qatar Airlines has revealed that it will be returning to Birmingham airport.
Starting on 10th July, the airline will resume daily flights to Doha. With the exception of Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, when flights leave at 9am, departures from Birmingham will be at 2.45pm.
In March 2016, the airline started operating from the airport in the Midlands with an initial eight flights per week. Services were stopped in 2020 due to the pandemic.
At the ITB trade show in Berlin, the airline provided an overview of its 2023 objectives. In addition to reviving Birmingham, Qatar Airways will boost frequency from Heathrow to Doha from 42 to 45 flights per week and from Gatwick from daily to 10 flights per week, with double-daily service in the summer. Edinburgh will add four additional services per week and operate twice daily.
In 2023, the airline will restore service to 11 airports, including Birmingham, Beijing, Osaka, Phnom Penh, and Tokyo Haneda.
The carrier recently announced seven new destinations including Chittagong in Bangladesh and Medan in Indonesia.
