From next month, Qantas will create a temporary lounge for eligible customers flying between Sydney and London via Darwin.
The decision comes after the airline revealed plans to resume service between Australia and the United Kingdom via Darwin once the country’s borders reopen on November 1st.
The Catalina lounge at Darwin Airport will be leased by Qantas and will accommodate around 100 passengers.
It will have local Qantas team members providing service, as well as lounge and dining areas, a buffet, a range of wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks, and restrooms.
Stephanie Tully, the group’s chief customer officer, said she is “delighted” to work with the airport to “ensure a comfortable transit experience” for its business class guests.
“We know that spending time in our lounges is one of the most enjoyable parts of the travel experience,” she added.
“We are excited to work with our friends at Darwin airport to have our lounge facility ready next week in time to welcome our first international customers in 20 months.”
