For the first time in nearly 18 months, Princess Cruises’ ship Sky Princess has set sail with paying passengers.
The ship has begun a series of UK domestic sailings from Southampton as the fleet’s third vessel to re-enter operation following the pandemic, which forced cruises to be canceled in March 2020.
Sky Princess, which began service in 2019, has joined sister ship Regal Princess on a series of ‘sections around the UK.
Sky Princess is only sailing in UK seas for vaccinated passengers on short scenic trips to Liverpool, Greenock, Belfast, and Portland until 5th October.
Tony Roberts, vice president for the United Kingdom and Europe, said: “It’s wonderful to welcome visitors back onboard another Princess ship, this time the Sky Princess, our second ship to arrive in the UK.
“This summer, Princess is one of only two cruise lines with two ships operating out of the UK, demonstrating our commitment and loyalty to UK guests.”
“Yesterday was a special day for Sky Princess because it was her maiden sailing from Southampton – her homeport for the past three years – with guests on board,” he continued.
“We are thrilled to devote one of our newest ships to the UK market, and we are confident that visitors will enjoy everything Sky Princess has to offer,” says the company.
