The final total solar eclipse that will be seen from North America for nearly 20 years will be available for visitors to view on a Princess Cruise.
To provide passengers sailing the Mexican Riviera the chance to see a total solar eclipse at sea, the cruise company is changing its route on board Emerald Princess in April 2024.
A vista at sea may provide one of the best vantage points for the total solar eclipse that will be observed on 8th April 2024, as the moon’s shadow is cast across parts of North America. The eclipse could last up to four minutes and 28 seconds.
While astronomer Fred Cink leads the guests’ viewing experience, they will assemble on the top decks and get special glasses they can wear to properly see the eclipse. During the occasion, they will also savor themed cuisine and beverages.
One of the three total solar eclipses still to occur this decade will be visible from North America until 2044.
John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises, said: “This rare occurrence in the cosmos is sure to wow millions but only the smallest fraction will ever experience this phenomenon via the ocean on board an amazing cruise ship.”
After selling out the 10-Day Mexican Riviera cruise with Total Solar Eclipse on Discovery Princess, Princess changed their 15-day ocean-to-ocean Panama Canal voyage aboard Emerald Princess.
The 3,080-passenger Emerald Princess will see the complete solar eclipse on April 8 between Cabo San Lucas and Huatulco, Mexico, while cruising from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale, through the Panama Canal, and through the western Caribbean in 2024.
The trip is currently for sale with beginning costs of £1,399 per person and includes stops in San Juan del Sur, Costa Rica, Cartagena, Grand Cayman, and Fort Lauderdale.
Added Padgett: “Princess thrives on ensuring our guests have authentic experiences that sometimes become once-in-a-lifetime moments.”
