Oetker Collection has announced plans to take over The Chesterfield, a landmark hotel in Palm Beach, as its first establishment in the country.
The Florida property will reopen as The Vineta Hotel in Palm Beach in late 2023 after undergoing “top-to-bottom” renovations.
The Reuben Brothers, a private equity, real estate investment, and development team, and Oetker have once again partnered. The Reuben Brothers previously worked with the hotel brand on the recently opened The Woodward in Geneva and the upcoming Hotel La Palma in Capri.
The Vineta Hotel is located in the center of Palm Ocean, two blocks from Worth Avenue, which is well-known for its upscale shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The beach is also nearby.
The almost-100-year-old building debuted in 1926 under the name Lido-Venice. It was given the name The Vineta shortly after that and stayed that way for 50 years. The building briefly served as a condo before resurfacing as The Chesterfield in 1989.
The hotel’s 12th “Masterpiece Hotel,” according to Oetker, would “pay tribute to the hotel’s legacy” in its new incarnation.
“This is a monumental moment in the brand’s history as we announce our first Masterpiece Hotel in the United States,” said Timo Gruenert, chief executive of Oetker Collection.
“Many of our existing guests have long visited or are residents of Palm Beach, and we therefore look forward to extending Oetker Collection’s unique hospitality ethos based on our values of family spirit, elegance and genuine kindness, to this wonderful town with The Vineta Hotel.”
Jamie Reuben of Reuben Brothers added: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Oetker Collection on The Vineta Hotel in Palm Beach – a place very close to my and my family’s heart. With Oetker Collection’s renowned and refined approach to luxury hospitality, I am confident that the hotel will become a staple in Palm Beach for generations to come.”
The home will undergo renovations under the direction of Paris-based interior designer Tino Zervudachi, who will reduce the number of rooms from 53 to 41.
The Vineta Hotel will provide four distinct “environments” on the ground floor.
The courtyard will reappear as a popular spot for al fresco dining, while the former Leopard Lounge will get a complete makeover to serve casual lunches and lively feasts.
Oetker will also debut a brand-new indoor-outdoor poolside restaurant with a Mediterranean theme and a statement bar that plays on the term “American Bar.”
“The concept behind the interior design for The Vineta Hotel is to infuse it with a fresh Palm Beach feel by bringing in clean lines, a relaxed ambiance, and a stylish and younger feeling palette of colours,” said Zervudachi.
“It’s my aim to create a real new venue for visitors and residents alike – taking extra care to enhance the exterior dining spaces both at the pool and the courtyard – by establishing a cosmopolitan look that blends European design cues with the destination’s unmistakable aesthetic.”
