During a ceremony at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy, Oceania Cruises christened its new ship Vista.
On Friday, 25th February, the cruise line’s 67,000-tonne, the 1,200-guest vessel had its maiden voyage.
Monsignor Tasca, archbishop of Genoa, joined Giuseppe Torrente, shipyard director for Fincantieri.
Anna Trucco, the shipyard’s Madrina, poured a bottle of prosecco against the hull to wish the ship and people who will sail on it “good fortune.”
Vista is the “most anticipated” ship in Oceania Cruises’ history, according to Howard Sherman, president and CEO.
“I am thrilled to be here with our partners from Fincantieri as the ship morphs from blueprints and steel into reality. Vista is truly a ship of dreams, and we cannot wait to welcome her inaugural season guests next year,” he added.
On 14th April 2023, Vista will make its debut trip from Rome to Barcelona, followed by 12 more European excursions before beginning sailings from the United States to the Canadian Maritimes and New England, the Panama Canal, and the Caribbean.
