The Allure of the Seas, the largest Oasis-class cruise ship to visit Texas, has docked at the new $125 million Royal Caribbean International cruise terminal in that state.
The line hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this week at the port in Galveston to commemorate the facility’s opening and the state debut of Royal’s Oasis-class ships.
US representative Randy Weber, federal commissioner Louis Sola, mayor Craig Brown, Royal Caribbean President and CEO Michael Bayley, and port director Rodger Rees were also present for the occasion.
It is anticipated that the Oasis-class will bring 630,000 tourists to the port annually, making the new terminal a major destination.
“We are thrilled to take family vacations to a whole new level in Texas,” said Bayley. “Our new, 161,334-square-foot terminal opens up a world of vacation possibilities for families in the south-west.
“Allure of the Seas is just the beginning, and we thank the Port of Galveston, Ceres and all the teams involved for making this bold vision a reality.”
On November 13th, Allure will set sail for the first time from its new homeport. For the winter 2022–2023 season, it will offer seven-night Western Caribbean cruises to locations like Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatan.
