Frenchman’s Reef invites visitors to experience a revitalising state of tropical chill with the launch of Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort at Frenchman’s Reef. The little resort, which is a component of a $425 million reconstruction project at Frenchman’s Reef, provides a tranquil island getaway and an outdoor paradise only steps from St. Thomas’s white sand beaches and azure oceans. The hotel, which is run by Aimbridge Hospitality, has elegant designs by architects Kollin Altomare and The Johnson Studio as well as innovative culinary and public space concepts from Sixteenfifty Creative Intelligence. The new resort is the most recent addition to the Autograph Collection Hotels, a dynamic and diverse group of independent hotels hand-selected for their creativity and passion in every aspect.
Ideal for those looking for a little privacy, this beachfront hideaway welcomes visitors into an open-air lobby where they start their adventure with free coconut water for a cooling island elixir as they are invited to meet up, mix with others, and socialise while taking in the breathtaking views. In classic St. Thomas fashion, Buoy Haus draws out the greatest qualities of the marine environment and transforms them into a luxuriant, healing hospitality experience. The resort’s 94 thoughtfully furnished guest rooms, including two suites, provide a variety of modern accommodations near the beach and the ocean. All rooms immerse guests in the cool comfort of their very own private retreat and offer soft, pillow-top beds, cool cotton linen, facilities thought-out for the demands of today’s traveller, as well as easy access to Morningstar Beach, which is just a few steps away.
Culinary adventurers can embark on a mouthwatering food and drink tour that starts on the beach. Buoy Haus has created a rejuvenating beach experience, inviting visitors to pair their unhindered leisure with Salt Shack Beach Bar & Grill. Guided by the ethos of ‘toes in the sand, a drink in hand’, Buoy Haus. The restaurant offers an Instagrammable ambiance and the ideal spot to soak in the sun with delectable, approachable cuisine, refreshing drinks, attentive service, and a soundtrack of precisely picked music to complement a day in the sun. It is situated in an affluent setting with an unpretentious vibe. An oceanfront beach and beverage experience is provided by Sandbar. Visitors may take it all in here while sipping on an island favourite like the pink “Painkiller,” sitting back and admiring a breathtaking sunset over Frenchman’s Reef.
In order to relax further along the voyage, visitors are invited to visit Tide Pool, Cabanas & Bar. The Tide Pool Cabanas & Bar, which offers private cabanas and poolside service, is a restful, quiet spot to while away a perfectly nice afternoon with specialty drinks and light fare.
In an oceanfront setting, Isla Blue creates a tropical boho chic atmosphere. With a Michelin-Star Executive Chef in charge, Isla Blue brings creative, fresh island cuisine from the Caribbean to Mexico, along with a seductive bar that offers inventive takes on traditional cocktails using fresh local fruits and herbs, as well as a temperature-controlled wine room that features an extensive wine, champagne and reserve list as well as premium sipping tequilas.
The Palm Court adds even more seaside activities to the Buoy Haus experience. This appealing social area has a hammock court, comfortable lounging places with picturesque views, Caribbean-style food and beverage huts, games, and more. Additionally, RED Hospitality and Leisure offer complementary non-motorized watersports selected for guests to enjoy, including a fleet of Hobie Cats and kayaks, an Aquabana Lounger, various beach accessories, and snorkel gear to explore the nearby stunning Caribbean waters.
A fleet of private boats that can be rented for day and night trips around the nearby islands and are accessible at Frenchman’s Reef’s private dock further enhances the aquatic experience. A variety of excursions await, including the coveted member of the fleet: the Flying Frenchman, a private luxury catamaran with a capacity of up to 125 people for daytime snorkel tours, sunset cruises, and more. There are several boats available to serve groups small and large.
The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef, which opens shortly after Buoy Haus, is adjacent to Buoy Haus and will provide guests with full access to its unique amenities. Among the amenities are a sizable pool deck with three ocean view pools, a pool bar, and cabanas, a variety of destination-inspired restaurants and lounges, Heavenly Spa by WestinTM with 13 treatment rooms, WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio, a private adventure beach with plenty of programming for all ages, retail shopping establishments, and 72,000 square feet of meeting and event space, in addition to the 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space at Buoy Haus. A shared section of Morningstar Beach will connect the two properties. Soon, more details about The Westin Beach Resort & Spa will be available.
