Alaska Airlines has increased the variety of meal options available to passengers. While other US airlines only serve freshly prepared meals on flights longer than 900 miles, the airline takes pride in serving first-class passengers on flights as short as 550 miles.
Alaska Airlines’ Todd Traynor-Corey, managing director of guest products, said: “We’re always looking to spark joy with great food and drink on board our flights, delivering a delicious meal or craft beverage with care as part of our award-winning service. What our guests have to say is important, and they told us that more food and beverage variety would be great, so we set out to make that happen. We’ve worked hard to give our guests of all ages a wider selection of food, from classic comfort food to more healthful options all while representing the vibrant flavors of the West Coast.”
Beginning today, first-class passengers will be given a choice of up to five different entrees, while economy passengers will have twice as many pre-order options. From two weeks to twenty hours before departure, visitors can order their preferred meals.
Most other services will still give at least four alternatives, even though first-class travelers will only have the five selections they were promised on flights to Hawaii or across the country. Beecher’s Mushroom Omelet, Chicken Sausage Breakfast Bowl, and Lemon Blueberry Pancakes are just a few of the new items on the breakfast menu. Lunch options for customers include the Korean Barbecue Chicken Sandwich, the Caramelized Onion Angus Burger, and the Wedge Salad with Applewood Bacon. Among the options available to passengers on lengthy flights are Chimichurri Flat Iron Steak, Herb Roasted Chicken, Lemon Fennel Manicotti, and Ginger Beef Stir-Fry Noodles.
Alaska Airlines also has a couple of surprises up its sleeve in addition to that. Additionally, Beecher’s Famous Mac & Cheese will be available on some flights. Additionally, Alicia’s Pork Carnitas Tamale is an option for some extra spice on some flights leaving from the Bay Area.
Along with new vegan options including a Harissa and Chorizo Frittata produced with a novel plant-based egg substitute, a Spicy Tofu Wrap, and a White Bean Chili with Grilled Polenta, the airline has also increased its selection of vegetarian and vegan meals.
Alaska Airlines has improved the selections in its main cabin in addition to updating the first-class menu. Both the Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich and the Turkey, Bacon & Tomato Bagel Sandwich are now available for breakfast. The carrier will provide two salad options for lunch and dinner: Stand Banh Mi and Strawberry Fields for Chevre. These products are the outcome of the airline’s collaboration with Evergreens Salad.
If you’re not a fan of salads, perhaps the two new wraps, Mediterranean Chicken Shawarma and Chicken Mango (we’re not sure if chicken and mango belong in the same dish) will catch your attention. The popular Tillamook cheeseburger has returned, providing hot meal alternatives for those flying to or from Hawaii.
It is important to note that fresh food selections in the main cabin may only be obtained by placing an advance order. Visit the Alaska Airlines website or mobile app to do this.
If none of the above-listed options appeal to you, Alaska Airlines has added a second new item that is now being pre-ordered in all cabins. The PB&J sandwich has been modernized into the Jetsetter’s Jam. Alaska Airlines, which does not serve peanuts, has had to make some adjustments. The sandwich is constructed with handmade strawberry compote spread over sweet croissant bread, along with toasted cashew and oat butter. It is served with fresh fruit and Tillamook cheese.
