Mauritius has announced that its borders will open to international travelers on 15th July 2021.
The island will open in stages, the first of which will be open to fully vaccinated visitors from 15th July to 30th September 2021.
Holidaymakers will be limited to resort amenities such as swimming pools and private beaches, but if they remain for more than 14 days and test negative on a PCR test, they will be allowed to travel outside.
From 20th June 2021, a list of authorized “Covid-19 safe resorts” will be available.
Adults aged 18 and up must have a PCR test between five and seven days before departure in addition to being fully vaccinated, with a negative result required to travel to Mauritius.
Travelers will also be subjected to a PCR test upon arrival in Mauritius’ airport, as well as on days seven and fourteen of their resort vacation.
Vaccinated travelers will be granted admission without limitations in phase two of the reopening, beginning 1st October 2021, if they provide a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.
For both phases one and two, unvaccinated travelers will be subjected to a 14-day in-room quarantine until further notice.
In recent weeks, Mauritius has increased its vaccine deployment, prioritizing frontline workers in the tourism industry. By the end of September, the country hopes to have achieved herd immunity.
