Marella Cruises to Launch Literary Themed Cruise

Marella Cruises has announced the launch of its first literary cruise, which will feature novelists, entertainment, and writing workshops.

On 19th April 2022, the all-inclusive 16-night cruise on the adults-only Marella Explorer 2 will depart from Montego Bay, Jamaica, headed for Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Marella Trips, which is owned by Tui, has had success with its Electric Sunsets-themed cruises, which are based on the Nineties and Noughties music, according to Chris Hackney, managing director.

He continued, “We are excited to introduce our first themed cruise for literature fans next year. It offers something different for guests onboard on a cruise where there are not as many days ashore as some of our other itineraries.”

The Transatlantic Sunsets Writing Cruise will include talks by Sarah Cruddas, a space exploration and solar system author, and Joe Wadstack, co-author of The Richard and Judy Wine Guide and This Morning’s resident wine expert.

Tony Strange in an Elizabethan-themed encounter and actor Shaun Williamson – known as Barry from EastEnders and a fanatical quizzer – are among the cruise’s entertainers. A Matter of Facts: One Man’s Journey into the Nation’s Quiz Obsession is Williamson’s book about the country’s quiz culture.

Authors and poets such as Claire Buckle, Jacqueline Gabbitas, and Barbara Nadel will lead writing workshops.
