The opening date of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s second location in Switzerland is set for 24th September 2022.
The hotel on Lake Lucerne will be managed and rebranded by the company in 2019, with an initial opening planned for 2020.
Following a “meticulous” makeover, the 1906-built hotel currently includes 136 bedrooms, four restaurants and bars, and a spa.
Highlights of the accommodations include a Presidential Suite and two Panoramic Rooftop Terrace Suites with 360-degree views of the lake and mountains.
Most accommodations feature private balconies or patios and are furnished with Bose, Dyson, and Diptyque amenities.
There will be a number of dining options, including the all-day dining MOzern Bar & Brasserie and Quai 10, which serves Mediterranean food outside. In the first quarter of 2023, the six-seat Mizumi dining room and the French restaurant Colonnade will both open. Mizumi will serve upscale Japanese cuisine.
Visitors can enjoy a sizable wellness area with saunas, steam rooms, experience showers, and a rest room at Spa Bellefontaine. A 24-hour fitness centre with Life Fitness equipment will also be available.
To commemorate the opening, the Mandarin Oriental Palace in Luzern is providing two customized welcome packages. Daily breakfast for two, a CHF 100 (CHF 150 for suites) meal credit, and guaranteed lake views are all included with Be the First to Stay and The Ultimate Suite Experience, respectively.
Both deals also include free admission to the close-by Museum Sammlung Rosengart, which showcases magnificent pieces by a range of European painters, including Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee. Additionally, suite visitors get a complimentary bottle of champagne upon arrival, valet parking, and a souvenir to keep.
Christian Wildhaber, the general manager, stated: “Nearly three years after announcing Mandarin Oriental’s arrival in Lucerne, we are getting ready to welcome our first guests to this historic, local monument that has now been transformed.
“The Palace has been deeply rooted in the local community since 1906 and we look forward to welcoming the local community back to their home on the lake. My team and I are looking forward to delighting locals and visitors from all over the world with Mandarin Oriental’s renowned service.”
