The Maldives has eased its Covid-19 entrance requirements, removing the need for travelers to undergo testing regardless of their immunization status.
The change took effect on 14th March after the Indian Ocean nation declared the epidemic a public health emergency on 13th March.
It eliminates the need for pre-flight and post-arrival tests, as well as travel-related quarantine.
According to UK Foreign Office advice, visitors to the Maldives must complete a Traveller Health Declaration form 48 hours prior to departure and return.
Travelers who are neither tourists nor Maldivians should take a PCR test between the third and fifth day after arriving in the Maldives.
In all health facilities and outbreak zones, wearing a protective facemask is still required. In crowded areas and on public transportation, masks are recommended.
The announcement is a “great boost” for the islands’ hotels and resorts, according to Emilio Fortini, general manager of Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa.
The country lifted the requirement for fully vaccinated travelers to perform a pre-departure test earlier this month.
