Malaysia Airlines to Increase Capacity Between London and Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia Airlines will increase capacity between London and Kuala Lumpur following Malaysia’s announcement that its borders will reopen to international travelers on 1st April after a two-year hiatus.

From 27th March, more than 70,000 seats will be available as the carrier resumes 11 weekly flights, increasing to a double daily frequency on 30th June.

This comes just in time for Easter and the start of the European summer, and it continues the rise of foreign travel that began with the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions in the UK and Europe.

It also aligns with other south-east Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, which have eased entrance rules for fully vaccinated overseas visitors.

The Airbus A350-900 planes fly the flagship route from Heathrow.

Daniel Bainbridge, Malaysia Airlines UK, and Europe Regional Director said: “I am delighted that we are resuming our full schedule, twice-daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur in the summer following the significant increase to 11 weekly flights from 27 March for the first time since early 2020.

“The further increase in capacity of over 70,000 seats is a top priority for Malaysia Airlines on our flagship route and we remain the only non-stop carrier between London and Kuala Lumpur.

“We now eagerly await the opening of Malaysian borders on 1 April for travellers who we know have been wanting to visit and look forward to welcoming them back onboard with our signature Malaysian hospitality.”
