Through a partnership with existing property Sanctuary Cap Cana, Marriott International’s The Luxury Collection will open its first all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic.
This summer, the adults-only Caribbean resort managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts will be rebranded as Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort. It will be the first Marriott-branded resort managed by Playa.
The Sanctuary Cap Cana hotel, which was renovated in 2019, has 325 rooms, five restaurants, six bars, five pools, and the Sanctuary Town nightclub.
Laurent de Kousemaeker, Marriott International’s chief development officer for the Caribbean and Latin America, stated: “We are thrilled to bring our first The Luxury Collection all-inclusive brand extension to the Dominican Republic.
“We are also excited for the opportunity to work with Playa Hotels & Resorts, a very reputable all-inclusive operator.”
Marriott International entered the all-inclusive market in 2019 and now has 28 such properties spread across seven of its brands. The Luxury Collection includes 123 hotels worldwide.
Playa Hotels & Resorts executive vice president and chief investment officer Fernando Mulet added: “In our first joint venture with Marriott International, Sanctuary Cap Cana is the perfect choice for the level of style and sophistication that has made Marriott’s The Luxury Collection resorts the standard bearer for unique, one-of-a-kind vacations.”
