On 22nd January, the first day of the Lunar New Year, breakfast delights will be offered in the First and Business Class lounges in Dubai’s seven Emirates Lounges, featuring the traditional “Cheung Fun” steamed rice noodle roll filled with dried shrimp and scallops. Passengers can have Cantonese roast duck bao with plum sauce, delectable poached shrimp and vegetable dumplings with soy and vinegar dip, or Chinese rainbow salad with smoked salmon, sesame dressing, and soya ginger dressing during lunch and dinner. Dessert options in the First Class Lounges will include a sweet and light mango coconut cake with spices or a black tea cake. Passengers visiting Singapore can eat steamed rice with Chinese chicken sausage wrapped in a lotus leaf, where the sticky glutinous rice is thought to represent family unity. The stir-fried prawn with green asparagus is one of the additional main dishes. Prawns are prepared symbolically to assure happiness in the upcoming year and are pronounced as “Ha” in Cantonese, which mimics the sound of laughter.
