As part of a more extensive winter schedule, KLM has resumed an early morning flight from Teesside airport to its Amsterdam Schiphol base.
The daily flights departing at 6 a.m. are scheduled to connect to the Dutch carrier’s extensive worldwide network of more than 160 cities.
The airline has increased its frequency from previous winter by conducting two flights per day currently, at 5.15 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays and one in the afternoon on Sundays.
Two flights each day were scheduled to depart for Schiphol during the summer program at 9.05am and 5.30pm.
Fahmi Mahjoub, general manager of KLM UK and Ireland, said: “Today’s announcement is a result of the great collaborative effort between Teesside international airport and KLM to bring the world closer to the local community.
“We are delighted to reinstate the early morning service from Teesside airport and demonstrate KLM’s commitment and support to the Tees Valley region.
“With our flights to Amsterdam connecting to over 160 destinations, the world is truly at your doorstep.
“It is now even more convenient for businesses to build their network, for families to connect with their loved ones, or for anyone to simply discover to world.”
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “KLM has been a great supporter of our airport for many years now.
“Our Amsterdam route remains a firm favourite and this early morning flight opens the door on invaluable connections across the globe.
“When you break it down – and cut out how long it takes to drag yourself to Manchester or London airports – catching a city break or some winter sun from Teesside saves you a lot of hassle.”
