The necessity for international travelers to undergo a pre-departure exam has been removed from Jamaica’s Covid-19 travel restrictions.
All tourists aged 12 and up to the Caribbean island had previously been required to show a negative lateral flow result within 72 hours of departure.
However, as of today (15th April), this restriction will be repealed, while travelers may still be tested for Covid upon arrival in the nation.
“All travellers arriving in Jamaica may still be tested for Covid-19 if assessed as high-risk as a result of exhibiting symptoms, exposure to people who have tested positive, belonging to a high-risk group or other risk factors,” confirmed the Foreign Office (FCDO).
“Travellers may be screened for symptoms at the airport.”
This year, Jamaica has seen a “rapid comeback” in tourism from the United Kingdom, with over 15,000 Britons visiting the island in January.
The destination eliminated the necessity for arriving travelers to fill out a travel authorization form last month.
Masks are no longer required to be worn in public places in Jamaica, though they are still recommended.
