When you buy 5,000 or more points, Hilton will give you a 100% bonus. Normally, you can purchase up to 80,000 points every year, which would cost $800 (£634) under the deal for 160,000 points plus the bonus. However, you may be offered a 180,000, which means you can buy 320,000 for $1600 (£1268). The deal is valid for purchases made by 19th July 2022.
For topping up to make a redemption, now is an ideal time with a 100% bonus, which is the most Hilton currently offers. However, whether you buy rather than pay cash for a house will be determined by the property’s points and cash price. Because point prices fluctuate, only buy points right before you plan to book or you may find that the price has increased by three or four times as regular redemptions have sold out.
Consider how busy the hotel is during your chosen dates. For example, to get the regular redemption rates for particularly popular hotels on points, you must book a year in advance.
Many high-end hotels charge between $95,000 and $120,000 per night for a basic room. So, at most, you’ll receive three nights for £1268 in points. As a result, you must ensure that the hotel charges more than £450 per night to make a three-night stay viable.
You should also ensure that what you desire is available before making a purchase.
Also, if you decide to cancel for whatever reason, you would be stuck with a large number of very expensive points, which would not be the case if you booked on a refundable cash rate.
