Greece’s Aegean is slated to launch from Newcastle airport in June 2023, giving the North East a new summer city break route the following year.
On Wednesdays and Sundays, Aegean will offer flights to Athens, the capital of Greece. Tickets are currently on sale; travel will begin on 14th June and last through 17th September.
The new Aegean service will give travelers in the North East more options and enable them to continue traveling from Athens to Greece’s islands and the Middle East, according to Leon McQuaid, Newcastle’s director of aviation development.
“Greece is one of the North East’s most popular holiday destinations and there is huge demand for direct services to Athens,” he said, adding: “This investment demonstrates great confidence in the North East’s largest airport and the region. We look forward to welcoming Aegean in 2023.”
