Greece has declared that it will withdraw its mask mandate effective 1st June.
The popular tourist destination has repealed its indoor mask-wearing requirement, meaning visitors will no longer be obliged to wear face masks in taxis, interior public venues, or on flights.
Travelers to Greece, however, will still be required to wear a mask on public transportation. “Mandatory mask-wearing remains in hospitals, nursing homes and urban transport like buses, the metro and trams,” stated Thanos Plevris, Greece’s health minister.
There is no legal necessity to wear a mask in any other location, including restaurants, hotels, entertainment events, and shopping malls.

The action follows the EU’s decision to eliminate mandatory facial coverings in airports and on European flights beginning on May 16, albeit few airlines have followed the advise.
The Foreign Office’s advice has been modified to reflect the change.
FCDA said, “From 1 June, it is only mandatory to wear a mask on public transport and in hospitals and care facilities for the elderly. In all other spaces there is no legal requirement to wear a mask.”
