Early in the new year, Germany will relax its prohibition on travel from the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom will be categorized as a high-risk area for Covid-19 beginning in the early hours of Tuesday, 4th January.
The United Kingdom is currently in Germany’s highest risk category, which is a viral variation hotspot.
It means that beginning of 4th January fully vaccinated travelers or those with a compelling reason to visit Germany will be permitted entry.
On Thursday (30th December), Germany’s embassy in London confirmed the adjustments.
The decision was hailed as a “positive development for our German colleagues” by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
Travelers from the United Kingdom who are fully vaccinated will not need a negative Covid test to enter Germany, nor will they be required to quarantine for 14 days.
